Hogwarts House Cup Mini Challenge
The Beat the Backlist Challenge is focused on knocking off titles that have been on your TBR for a while, or even ones that get pushed aside for new releases. Over the years, and especially this one, we’ve noticed that new releases are getting more and more attention while our TBRs continue to grow. While we LOVE new releases, we also want to show some of those older titles love too.
This challenge doesn’t have levels or a set number of books you need to read.
YOU set your own reading goal. YOU pick the books. YOU read at your own pace.
Whether you’re a casual reader looking to work on your TBR list with a bunch of people, or a competitive reader seeking a bit of extra motivation this year, Beat the Backlist is for you. Everything is optional and there are only 2 guidelines.
The idea here isn’t to make this a competition, but to help you shrink your TBR with a bunch of other people doing the same thing. BUT if you’re looking for a little extra motivation for this challenge…
This challenge will run from January 1st to December 31st, 2017.
That’s right. You have an ENTIRE YEAR to complete your goal.
Books must be released prior to 2017
(this challenge isn’t for new releases)
That’s it! Those are the only guidelines!
We HIGHLY encourage you to post your reading updates throughout the year on your social media platform of choice using the hashtag #BeatTheBacklist!
You can also tag our challenge Twitter account in your updates so we can share them! Make sure to follow us for challenge updates and announcements, as well as for the Twitter chats coming up!
This challenge is open to everyone! You don’t need to be a book blogger but we encourage you to create a list of the books you plan to read OR set a goal of how many you want to read whether it’s a post somewhere or a Goodreads shelf, or whatever system works for you. Then add it to the link-up below! This form will stay open throughout 2017 so you can join in at any time.
Don’t worry about your TBR intro list being your final list! It’s just a starting point so you have some titles to cross off! This challenge is all about what YOU accomplish so change your books whenever you feel like it! Not sure what you want to read yet? Set a goal for how many books you want to read!
If you don’t use Twitter, you may want to subscribe to our listserv so you don’t miss any important updates!
If you need to change your link later on, please send me your new link and I will edit the link-up since that’s easier that deleting your entry and having you add a new one.
In case anyone gets behind on their reading this year, we have 4 readathon weekends planned throughout so everyone can catch up! These will go from Friday to Sunday and we’ll be setting personal goals for books read each readathon. More information will be announced closer to the time.
MARCH………………10 – 12
We’re super excited to have monthly Twitter chats for this challenge. These are open to everyone even if you’re not participating! Each chat will have the same theme as that month’s instagram challenge (see below) and will happen on the last Sunday of each month.
This is when we’ll be announcing the new instagram challenge for the next month as well as who won that month’s house cup! Make sure to follow us on Twitter to make sure you don’t miss out!
Each month we’ll be posting a week-long instagram challenge. We’ve come up with a different theme for each month and everyone is welcome to join in! These challenges will be the second full week of each month (the dates are also on the challenge images) and you can find the challenge for the upcoming month in the sidebar.
April’s theme is… SPRING
Feel free to use any of the graphics below to share the challenge!
