Ten Characters I’d Name a Pet After

POSTED ON October 18, 2016 BY Austine IN Weekly/Monthly

Though I’ll be taking a break from weekly meme posts, I couldn’t resist this one ESPECIALLY since I already have my top 2 choices that will happen… as soon as I get my own animals (despite already living in a zoo).

Calcifer from Howl’s Moving Castle

I will have an (orange) cat and its name will be Calcifer, and its best friend is going to be…

wait for it

it’s coming

Howl from Howl’s Moving Castle

(Please tell me you knew this was coming?) I need a Howl and Calcifer. I’m not picky about pets because I plan on rescuing anyway but if I were to actually pick a breed, I’d hardcore go with a pitbull.

Hell, maybe I need a Sophie too!

Alright, now for the rest of the list, I suppose.

Mia from Nevernight

This will be a badass pet of some kind. Might be a cat or dog. Could be a snake. Who knows?

Mr. Kindly from Nevernight

Have you noticed I have a lot of pair names? Obviously a black cat here. Likely one that knows he’s a cat and is well aware he has staff and not the other way around.

Cat from Halfway to the Grave

I’m gonna be super cheesy here and go with the species as the name because…

(yeah, I’m gonna do it again)

Bones from Halfway to the Grave

So we have a cat named Cat. Obviously we need a dog named Bones.

Yeah, that one was bad. I know. But MOVING ON (and ignoring my middle-of-the-night thinking)

The literary trio!

Athos from The Three Musketeers

Aramis from The Three Musketeers

Porthos from The Three Musketeers

Puck from A Midsummer Night’s Dream

I always felt this was a good cat name. A trickster, right? Or maybe a sneaky bird (though I can’t say I’m much of a bird person, really).

Honorable Mentions

  • Sherlock & Moriarty
  • Penryn
  • Lila & Bard (okay, yeah, I know)
  • Howel (as an alternative, thanks to A Shadow Bright and Burning)
  • Audrey Rose & Cresswell

What literary names make your pet list?

  1. I really like all your group names! 🙂 Especially the Howl team and Cat/Bones (which is hysterical), plus I’ll always have a soft spot for anything named after the Musketeers.
