POSTED ON October 24, 2016 BY Austine IN Interview

I’m excited to welcome Pembroke Sinclair, author of Wucaii, to NovelKnight today! She stopped by last week to talk about DRAGONS (if you haven’t read her guest post yet, you definitely should check it out) and today we get to learn a bit more about the face behind the book!

ALL ABOUT YOU

You wrote a book! That’s pretty awesome. Why don’t you tell us a bit about what inspired Wucaii?

I’ve always had this thing for hybrids—I think it would be super cool to by one—so I wrote a book that explored what it would be like.

Introduce us to your main character!

When Aelana was human, she was a Protector.  It was her job to ensure the safety of her other human beings.  She was tough, dedicated, and a fierce fighter.  But she also had a sensitive side.  She was insecure, a bit of an outsider.  None of that changes when she becomes a human-dragon hybrid.

Lots of aspiring authors out there. Any advice for them?

Write what you want to write and what makes you happy.  Otherwise, it will stop being fun.  It should always be fun.

Alright, the ultimate question: why should we read your book?

To escape.  Get out of your daily grind for a while and escape to a world that you would never expect.  Live through someone else and see what motivates them to do what they do.

NOW FOR THE FUN…

Describe yourself in 3 words.

Dedicated, driven, goal-oriented.

Your characters are sent into the Hunger Games. Who wins?

Aelana, without a doubt.

Coffee or tea?

Coffee.  In the tiniest, cutest cup you’ve ever seen!

Best ice cream flavor ever?

Walmart’s salted caramel truffle ice cream.  Sadly, others share my same opinion and it’s really hard to find.

Your theme song/personal anthem?

Amazing by Aerosmith.  It speaks to me on so many levels.

What is one piece of advice you would tell everyone?

Do what makes you happy, even if it seems silly or others laugh at you and try to knock you down.  Life is too short.

About Pembroke Sinclair

Pembroke Sinclair is a literary jack of all trades, playing her hand at multiple genres. She has written an eclectic mix of fiction ranging from horror to sci-fi and even some westerns. Born in Rock Springs, Wyoming--the home of 56 nationalities--it is no wonder Pembroke ended up so creatively diverse. Her fascination with the notions of good and evil, demons and angels, and how the lines blur have inspired her writing. Pembroke lives in Laramie, Wyoming, with her husband, two spirited boys, a black lab named Ryder, and a rescue kitty named Alia, who happens to be the sweetest, most adorable kitty in the world! She cannot say no to dessert, orange soda, or cinnamon. She loves rats and tatts and rock and roll and wants to be an alien queen when she grows up.
