#FF & Audiobooks: Don’t Read to Me

POSTED ON August 12, 2016 BY Austine IN Weekly

Do you listen to audiobooks? If not, why?

I shortened the prompt for this week’s Feature/Follow a bit because I don’t listen to audiobooks. It really comes down to one thing: I don’t like being read to. Sure, that may have been a different case when I was little but ever since I could read a book for myself, I never liked listening to someone else read it to me. There’s also the problem where I have a tendency to read much faster than the narrator does so I want to move ahead in the story but without speeding things up to sound like Alvin and the Chipmunks, that doesn’t happen.

Audiobooks just aren’t for me but I do love physical and eBooks just fine.

Do you listen to audiobooks? Why (or why not)?

  1. I haven’t really dabbled with audiobooks yet but I did listen once to Amy Poehler’s Yes Please. I love hearing their voices narrating to me, but for some reason, it lures me to sleep. Audiobooks are great, but it’s hard to keep track of where I left off if I doze off all the time. 🙂
