ARC August // The TBR Blues and Other Non-ARCs

POSTED ON August 6, 2016 BY Austine IN Reading Challenge

Hello everyone! Hope ARC August is going productively for you! Just here with a quick update on my reading progress which is shamefully behind from what I wanted to do but that’s okay! So far I’ve read a bunch of finished copies because I’m silly and didn’t realize some of the ARCs on my list are sequels in series (yes, I really was that oblivious…trust me, I know lol).

My Weekend TBR

For some reason, they’re all blue so there you go. Only one is an ARC but the other two will be leading into ARC reviews later this month so keep an eye out!

This Week’s ARC Reads

  • Copper Veins by Jennifer Allis Provost (Review)
  • Poisoned Blade by Kate Elliott (Review to come)

If you haven’t read the first 2 books in the Copper Legacy series, you can check out my reviews for Copper Girl (book 1) and Copper Ravens (book 2). I also have one up for Court of Fives, the first book in the series before Poisoned Blade.

Vial Things is a new book out by Leah Clifford, out on August 9th, so if you haven’t had a chance to pre-order your copy, I highly recommend it. A great read!

Now that I’ve gotten a lot of the previous installments for series out of the way this week (though still working on a few), hopefully there are a few more ARC reviews for you guys! 🙂 And coming up this week, watch out for my review of The Sight by Chloe Neill as part of her blog tour!

    • I just finished JACKABY earlier today and it was great! The perfect book if you like Sherlock Holmes. It took me forever to get around to it but I’m immediately going for the sequel.

The Copper Legacy was a slow start for me (as my reviews can attest to) but by the third book I was invested. They’re pretty quick reads, perfect if you’re between books. 🙂

  1. I read Jackaby is Sherlock Holmes meets Buffy the Vampire Slayer… how much truth is there to that? I’m looking for the Buffy element, lol.

My ARC August is going slow. I finished one, about 1/2 into my second. I’m just tired and have no energy to read. I don’t know how you read so fast! ?

    • I’d say it’s definitely more on the Sherlock side but has supernatural elements. I wouldn’t say Buffy so much because the protagonist is more of a Watson than a Buffy. Less hunting/killing, more a investigative case.

And it’s a skill I managed to teach myself without realizing it lol.
