After saving the Princess of Melela from certain death at the hands of the alien-hybrid Relcor and getting her off planet, Captain Rez Cantor is in a quandary. Instead of reaching a safe haven as planned, the unthinkable happens and the results leave him injured and alone on an alien moon with no recollection of how he got there. To make matters worse his life is in danger, for floating just over his head is strange alien cloud---a vaporous form eagerly trying to devour him.
Welcome to the 5 moons of Tiiana---five moons unlike any other in the galaxy.
The 5 Moons of Tiiana is a fast-paced, action-packed adventure perfect for lovers of sci-fi. First off, I really enjoyed the characters. Rez Cantor is my version of a sci-fi Bond–except more human. I felt I could connect with him because he wasn’t perfect (*gasp*) but the mistakes he made solidified his character. And despite the cliches many of the minor characters took on, I found I didn’t mind.
For the most part, the book flowed. Every now and then an awkward sentence would pop up that momentarily disconnected me from the story but it wasn’t often enough to detract from it. Again, cliches appeared with phrases this time. Harry made them work, tying everything together in a page-turning adventure but I think the novel could have done without so many (as a reader, I could figure out that Rez was short on time).
This book wasn’t entirely original in some of the smaller aspects but is a good read for those ready to disappear into another world. If you like the class “hero’s journey,” you’ll love Rez and his adventure. I recommend this for anyone with a taste for space and the effects of war among the stars.
